We received an activity report for February 2025 from Ms. Suzuki, representative of the NPO "LYSTA" in Fukushima Prefecture.

February Activity Report

■TNR: 41 cats
■New Rescues: 6 cats
■Adoptions: 3 cats

Mehikari-kun recovering after being hit by a car!

In February, we took in six adult cats from the public health center.

One of them is "Mehikari-kun," who appears to have been in a car accident.
Previously, injured animals like him would have been euthanized immediately at the public health center, but now they call us instead of euthanizing, and we are able to take them in.

We immediately performed an esophagostomy tube procedure and began treatment.
He has mild cerebral palsy, but he has recovered to the point where he can eat on his own.

Kanpachi-kun, paralyzed in his lower body, is doing his best!

"Kanpachi-kun" is paralyzed in his lower body.
Since he has no muscle in his hind legs, we presume this condition has been present for a long time, not something recent.
It would be difficult for him to survive on his own in this condition, so we believe he was cared for by humans and then abandoned.

Omu-kun graduates!

There were three adoptions in February.

"Omu-kun" went to a home with a resident cat, and "Amu-chan" and "Samu-kun" were adopted together by foster parents and left the shelter.

We will continue our activities with the goal of "achieving a sustainable zero-euthanasia rate" in Iwaki City.
