We received an update on the cats for September from Ms. Suzuki, representative of the NPO "LYSTA" in Fukushima Prefecture.

 

September Activity Report

Our monthly spay/neuter surgeries totaled 49 cats.

 

Malnourished and thinning fur!

Among the cats we operated on this time, there were some that were malnourished and had thinning fur.
The only way to address this is for the on-site feeders to stop using poor quality food and switch to good quality food...

 

In September, we prioritized two cats from the health center that would likely have difficulty being adopted by the general public.

"Shhh!" The angry cat!

Oko-chan (male) is not used to people.

Even after a week, he would eat while hissing with flattened ears. He runs away when people approach, but he gets along well with the other cats in the room.

 

Sharp-eyed Knight-kun!

Knight-kun (male) is not used to people.

He doesn't hiss, but he has a determined look that says, "I won't trust you humans!"

 

Creative closet space becomes a cat favorite!

To maximize the space and benefit the cats, we are utilizing vertical space.

What was originally a closet has been converted; the upper shelf is a resting place for cats, and the lower section is a cage and litter box area. Each cat has found their favorite spot and spends their time as they please.

 

Cat huddles, a sure sign of autumn!

After a long, hot summer, we are now experiencing pleasant breezes. In our facility with 170 cats, you can now see groups of cats huddling together in various rooms (the cats in the thumbnail image).
